I found the Critical Incidents and Framing exercise to be very interesting. The conversation was kept relatively light and went very well. Everyone was understanding of the situations and tried to put themselves in the shoes of the person that was experiencing each fictional scenario. There were many different points of view that were highlighted, which helped to smoothly move the discussion forward. While talking about the different scenarios with my classmates, I felt heard and understood. As the only person of color in my group, it was nice to feel listened to and that my point of view was valued. In addition, it was nice to see that there was a common understanding throughout the group of positionality and the ways in which we all relate to each other. I learned that perspective and background are very important when considering how to navigate different critical incidents. Additionally, I learned that, because everyone has different life experiences, it is incredibly important to listen and place value on every perspective.
